He wrote this letter exactly one month later, on 19 August, while describing an unsuccessful attempt to see the minister and asking Forbin-Janson not to require another visit. Ecclesiastical confirmation followed on 18 February 1839, together with his appointment as titular bishop of Ioppe.",
