English translation

Sir,
Seeing myself unable to [pay] you for your merchandise, because the person who had [engaged] me had made no agreement with me and then left me, I am obliged to send your merchandise back to you for fear of causing you to lose it.
I must go back to working by the day. As soon as I saw what had happened, I had [not yet] touched the merchandise, [fortunately]. I am sending it back to you; please accept it.
